Marko Topchii was born into a family of musicians in Kiev, Ukraine, and started studying guitar at the of age of four.
He completed his master’s degree at the National University of Arts in Kharkiv in 2011, where he studied under Prof. Volodymir Dotsenko, Honored Artist of Ukraine. In 2016, he completed a three-year postgraduate degree at the Tchaikovsky National Academy of Music in Kiev under the guidance of Prof. Yuri Alexik, Honored Artist of Ukraine. In 2019, he completed the professional studies program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under Judicaël Perroy.
Perhaps the most decorated young performer in the world, Marko has won more than 100 awards in international classical guitar competitions worldwide, including 55 first places. To name but a few distinctions: 1st prize at the 2023 Guitar Foundation of America competition, 1st prize at the International Guitar Competition “Francisco Tárrega,” 1st prize at the International Guitar Competition Maurizio Biasini, and 1st prize, audience prize, musicians prize at the Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition. In 2022, Marko won 2nd prize at the Baltimore International Guitar Competition.
Marko is extremely in demand, not only as a performer but as a teacher of master classes and juror of competitions.
